Headboard

Transforming a headboard. Cut, sanded and painted.

Ta-dá!

The desired look was achieved :)

Murphy Bed

An extra mattress + do-it-yourselfers = MURPHY BED!

Startting to realize our walls are not straight. Or is it the floor?

Wall frame done! Time to create the mattress support!

Heavy duty brackets and hinges.

A handle at the end will help lift the bed up.

Mattress fits!

Voilá! A bed that doesn't take space! The perfect guest bed :)

Kitchen Remodel

Disaster zone!
We had already knocked down the half wall and the ceiling. New framing for recessed lights in place.

Getting rid of the tile countertop and backsplash! Yeah!!!!

The old corner butterfly sink is gone :)

Tom doing the hard work!

New quartz countertops, added sink and bar :)

Celebrating! Part of drywall is done!

Taping and mudding! I like it!!!

All the heavy work is done! Now just have to paint.

The most tedious part: painting the cabinets :-/

Voilá!!!! Walls and ceiling painted, cabinets refinished and painted inside and out, with new hinges installed!

Backyard path

We decided to pour concrete in the back of the house, so the dogs wouldn't drag as much dirt into the house. We'd never done this before, but with some basic knowledge, the help of the guy who knows everything (aka Google) and a good attitude, we took the challenge.  Tom did all the heavy work (lifting concrete bags, mixing, pouring in the wheel barrel) while I did all the heavy drinking, smoothed out the mix and put the expansion joint lines!

Before: Our dogs Samba and Dexter  helping out while we built the forms

Tom lifted 3 tons of concrete. Literally!

We rented a noisy concrete mixer. Oops, sorry neighbors, we forgot it was Easter

We made a base of gravel (and a little dog poo) and I spread the mix with a rake

Trips and more trips of concrete... Should have gotten a bigger wheel barrel. Tom was ready for us to discuss the relationship with the ear mufflers, haha!

Smoothing it out was not easy. Thank God for Micheladas!

Our hands and the dogs' paws to finish :)

Voila! 2 days of work, 2 sore bodies 3 tons of concrete and many beers!
